Andrew Elliott

Son of John Elliott, Pipe Major of the Peel Regional Police Pipe Band, Andrew Conlon Elliott has been immersed in pipe bands since his birth. Even at a very young age, Andrew was always interested in pipe bands, especially in tenor drumming.

Andrew officially joined the Peel Regional Police Pipe Band in 2001 at the age of 13 under the tuition of Duncan Gibson, where he quickly developed his skills. Today, Andrew is highly sought after to instruct at workshops, band workshops, and private lessons in both Canada and the US.

Some of the highlights of Andrew’s Pipe Band career are having the privilege of performing live at the Air Canada Centre with Sir Paul McCartney in 2004 and again in 2006, performing in New York’s Carnegie Hall in 2003 and again in 2005 at the Music Hall at the New York City Police Benevolent Concert and Police 911 Memorial parade.

In solo competition, Andrew has won every award in the Ontario Pipe Band circuit, including the Canadian and North American Championships on a number of occasions, and was also the 2006 and 2007 Champion Supreme winner. Andrew was also the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Midwest Highland Arts Fund Gold Medalist, which is considered by many to be the world championships of solo tenor drumming
