Lyric Todkill

A native of Tennessee, Lyric Todkill began piping at the age of 14.  His first lessons were with the Knoxville pipe band with Kay Irwin and Andrew Payzant. 

At 18, he was accepted to Carnegie Mellon University where he studied piping under Pipe Major Alasdair Gillies and graduated with university honors in 2003. The same year, Lyric joined the 78th Fraser Highlands pipe band and is a still a member. 

He is a regular highland games circuit in North America and the U.K. and has taken a number of prizes over the years including wins at the Nicol Brown, George Sherrif, United States Piping Foundation, the U.S. Silver Medal, and prizes at the Silver Medal at the Northern Meeting, the U.S. and Canadian Gold Medals, and numerous B grade contests in Scotland. 

Lyric is the band director of the St. Thomas’ Episcopal School in Houston, Texas and a firefighter with the city of Southside Place and the Community Volunteer Fire Department station 3.
